Dr. Sonya’s leadership journey began at DTE Energy, where she rose from Technical Instructor to leadership and diversity facilitator roles. Her commitment to empowerment expanded across classrooms, churches, and corporations — from the Pontiac Housing Commission to Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship of Michigan.
She has taught at Baker College, Rochester University, and Cornerstone University, and continues to mentor emerging leaders through the John Maxwell Team as an Executive Director.
Today, as founder and CEO of George Thomas Growth Services, she integrates decades of experience in education, leadership development, and ministry to help professionals align with their Nia Star™ — their unique, God-given purpose — and turn that clarity into strategy, legacy, and measurable success.

Dr. Sonya is the author of Reasons of Love and Let There Be Light: The Lumination of Nia.
Her academic work, Self-Efficacy and Preparation of Scholarly Writing, continues to impact adult learners in higher education.
Her leadership extends beyond business — she serves as Director of Leadership Development and Christian Fundamentals Instructor at Winners Circle Church in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Dr. Sonya resides in Auburn Hills, Michigan, with her husband, Richard M. Thomas II, and continues to live out her mission:
